Cholla Cacti are not nice :
Just curious…
I was in line behind a customer purchasing the canned compressed air used for cleaning computer components and the clerk asked for his date of birth since you have to over 18 to purchase. He refused to give it to the clerk and the clerk informed him that he couldn’t continue with the purchase without a date of birth and to make one up for him was against company policy to which the customer said it was against privacy laws for him to ask for his date of birth. They were at a standstill and he ended up not purchasing the product but that got me thinking if there was such a law. You have to provide your date of birth to purchase cigarettes, alcohol, cold medicine and other regulated products so I don’t think there is a law against a business asking for a consumer’s date of birth.
Anyone know for sure?

Is there a privacy law that will allow me to decline to give Wal-Mart my ID when returning something w/o a receipt?
It isn’t that I want to cause drama. It’s that I MUST keep my identification private in all ways possible! And all the stores from retail to food seems to be adopting this policy. How may I decline to give out that info while still being able to shop at the places that are price-friendly?
Surely there is some sort of law that can protect me.
Thanks for your input, everyone, but I am looking for more knowledgeable answers -even if it isn’t what I want to hear.
and Homer, you look like a true idiot when you *assume* someone is a thief. I’m not a thief. I am an American who is trying to keep my family safe. So you, Homer, can live the rest of your life knowing that you are an a s s.

is it an invasion of privacy for fourm members to post up my address, phone number, family pictures they got from myspace and facebook, names of my parents and pictures from photobucket on a public fourm without my consent?

I’m just wondering what the law of confidentiality for minors in Ohio is.
Is it legal for a physician to disclose information about smoking, drinking, or illegal drugs to a parent if the minor clearly asks them not to?

If my University sends information to my parents about University code I have broken, isn’t this against some privacy law in Ohio? After 18 I know that your parents aren’t allowed to see your medical information without your express permission, I just couldn’t remember if the same applied to things like breaking University code.

In the Netherlands there’s a privacy law that requires web services to remove all your personal information when you ask for it. I was wondering if this is the same in the United States. Can anyone give me more details about this?
