jeff shaffer :

The woman that I lived with for 7 years went insane. Her family would have nothing to do with this situation. I was the only one left to help her and because of her right to privacy no one would talk to me. She ended up her life by killing herself. No one was there for her right to have help.
No, I am not blaming anyone. I just want to read more about the who of this crazy law.

The ACLU is one of them. Minor children that maybe on drugs cannot be drug tested, because of their “right to privacy”. If employers can invade your privacy and drug test you , I do not see why a parent or legal guardians cannot do the same, to save a life!

What “crazy law” are you talking about? There’s no “generic right to privacy” law. There are specific privacy laws — such as HIPPA (related to health information and records privacy), online privacy laws and acts (related to unsolicited distribution of private information) vehicle information privacy laws (allowing you to “opt out” from having your motor vehicle information publicly available) and others.

What do you mean “no one would talk to me”? Did you have her committed? Did she see a therapist, and the therapist wouldn’t talk to you (that’s not just HIPPA, that’s the doctor-patient confidentiality ethical and legal rules that forbid disclosure of discussions by therapists)?

Privacy is being completely eroded in this country, so unless you provide specifics, it’s very hard to comment.

Here’s a link discussing the HIPPA privacy rule:
