Meredith F :
I’m just wondering what the law of confidentiality for minors in Ohio is.
Is it legal for a physician to disclose information about smoking, drinking, or illegal drugs to a parent if the minor clearly asks them not to?

No i’m almost positive it’s illegal. But i live in california, so the law in Ohio might be different…although i doubt it.
Here…when they ask questions involving drugs or sex, they ask a parent that might be in the room or such to leave the room, & whatever you say will remain confidential. They even make sure they don’t call your house phone & ask you if it’s okay to call or leave a message on your cell regarding drugs or pregnancy. It’s doctor-patient confidentiality. Now on the other hand, if you’re a minor, your parents can request you be drug tested, & that is prefectly legal. So be careful of that.
