no state may make laws that contradict federal law.you follow the chain of command. first is the federal then the state, then the counties of the state, then the city government. i am a city commissioner and had to recently go to training for this to assure i did not attempt to help pass any ordinance that would contradict the above mentioned.otherwise it would be null and void because of the chain of command, however there are certain issues that the federal will and insist the states decide how they want to set the laws, one of these is legal drinking age. there are several others as well. the dj man said that
You must follow whichever law is more stringent.
Let’s say a Federal law says “You must keep the records for 5 years”, and the State law says “You must keep the records for 10 years.” – you have to keep them for ten.
